Demo Shadowveil During Steam Next Fest

Shadowveil: Legend of the Five Rings, the first-ever video game set in the fantastical realm of Rokugan, releases next week, but you can demo the game today! In Shadowveil, you play as the commander tasked with leading an expedition of Crab Clan samurai into the dangerous wastes of the Shadowlands to confront an ancient evil. You can learn more about this strategic roguelite game on its Steam page, and ask the developers your questions in the official Discord server.

As part of this year’s Steam Next Fest, players from across the globe have the opportunity to get a taste of the adventures, dangers, quests and stories that await in the Shadowlands.

In this demo, you will experience the beginning of the journey that Shadowveil: Legend of the Five Rings offers. The included tutorial teaches you how to play the game and introduces you to your first challenge: the Ancestral War Banner of the Hida has been lost! This powerful relic dating from the earliest days of the Crab Clan must be retrieved at all costs, and so after a patrol sent to recover it disappears, it falls to Hida siblings O-Ushi and Sukune to embark beyond the Wall and return the banner to Watchtower of Wistful Strife. Each of the siblings offers a different playstyle and a unique perspective on the unfolding story, so you’ll want to choose your character wisely—or you can play through the demo twice, each time as a different sibling!

Players of the demo will have access to all the classes of the game, including a large variety of both abilities and items, giving you several ways to build your party. During your journey, you will venture into the Shadowlands and face off against some of its threats, including a horde of goblins and their powerful leader, the Warmonger Gragokku.

Your demo-adventure ends after the first two chapters from the full game, however, the second chapter can be replayed endlessly to further explore unlocks, other classes, party combinations and strategies. Fans of Legend of the Five Rings can also explore the lore entries in the in-game Codex to learn more about Rokugan, the Shadowlands, and the dangers the siblings will face in Shadowveil.
